Um auf die steigende Nachfrage im Güterverkehr zu reagieren, hat auch die DB Cargo Vectron-Lokomotiven geordert. 2018 hat DB Cargo insgesamt 60 Lokomotiven erhalten - mit den Länderpaketen Deutschland, Österreich, Schweiz, Italien und Niederlande. Seit dem Fahrplanwechsel 2018/2019 verkehren damit erstmals DB-Cargo-Züge durchgehend ohne Lokwechsel – beispielsweise von Rotterdam nach Verona. Seit 2020 haben diese zusätzlich das Länderpaket Belgien erhalten."
